The Sun, The Trip plays with the dual meaning of the word “trip”—as both a journey through space and a hallucinatory experience. In this project, travel becomes a means of self-exploration rather than destination-seeking, with places and encounters serving only as catalysts for inner discovery. The sun, depicted as a smiley face, becomes a symbol not of enlightenment, but of escapism—an icon of altered states and fleeting detachment rather than lasting understanding.
Paul Journey investigates the aesthetics of travelling from 1997. His works include installations, paintings and photographs.
