IANUS / Bedside cabinet

Originally designed in 2012 by Paolo Fontana for dESIGNoBJECT.it and later developed for the German brand Raumgestalt, IANUS is now presented by InCaseOf as a refined, contemporary piece of functional design.

Named after the Roman god Janus, the IANUS bedside tables open in two directions: the inner module slides either to the left or right, revealing hidden compartments with a smooth, unexpected gesture.

Fixed to the wall on just one side, they appear to float. The outer shell, in matte black MDF, encloses an inner element made of natural oak – warm and vibrant – that slides open to reveal both space and function. This bilateral opening evokes ideas of transition, transformation, and dual perspective.

Perfect as bedside tables, yet never limited to a single purpose, they adapt to different needs and spaces. Each piece is handmade, and slight variations are a natural part of its uniqueness.
